how to get to Naxos?

You decide to visit Naxos and experience everything the island has to offer. Located in the center of the Cyclades Islands, Naxos is easily accessible by air and sea from various locations throughout the year. Here is a quick guide on how to get to Naxos.

[Please note: Be sure to check with your travel agent and/or airline/transportation company for the latest flight schedule information as flight schedules/schedules are subject to change. The high season usually starts with the Greek Orthodox Easter holiday and lasts from late spring to early autumn – mid-October]

To Naxos by Air:

If you fly into Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos, you can fly directly to Naxos with Aegean Airlines – Olympic Air (www.aegeanair.com) and Sky Express (www.skyexpress.gr). There are additional flights during high season. Remember, it’s a good idea to book in advance due to limited space. The flight time to Naxos is approximately 1 hour.

Arriving in Naxos by boat:

Connecting from Athens to Naxos by boat: Another option from Athens – the route most Greeks prefer due to space availability and schedule frequency – is to take a ferry or high-speed catamaran to Naxos Sos and the Little Cyclades Islands. Boat tours are part of the island experience. Most bookings can be booked directly online or through your travel agent/service.

Travel time from Piraeus port to Naxos by ferry is 5.5-6 hours, depending on the timetable, and 3.5-4 hours by high-speed hydrofoil from Piraeus Depends on company/schedule.

There is a bus service from Athens airport to Piraeus port. The transfer time from the airport to the port of Piraeus is approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Also, from Athens International Airport, take the Attiko metro to Monastiraki station and then connect to the ISAP train line to Piraeus to access the port of Piraeus.
